Yan grew up in Beijing, China and in 2003 completed her undergraduate degree in Biology. After that, she earned her Ph.D. degree in cognitive neuroscience from Chinese Academy of Sciences under the mentorship of Dr. Yuejia Luo in 2009. She is now Associate Professor in the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research focused on the effects of high altitude hypoxia on attention and executive function by using Event-related potentials (ERPs). She also conducts research on the neural mechanisms of cognitive aging. In April 2017, she started a 1-year visiting program in Gazzaley lab to learn cognitive training and non-invasive brain stimulation.
